Each credential has a different role. Some relate to tax treatment, some to grant or CSR onboarding, and others to process quality or institutional due diligence.

Tax Compliance
12A / 12AB

Income-tax Registration

Registration under Section 12AB places an eligible charitable trust or institution within the Income-tax exemption framework under Sections 11 and 12, subject to continuing statutory compliance.

Donor Benefit
80G

Donor Tax-Deduction Approval

Approval under Section 80G allows eligible donors to claim an income-tax deduction for qualifying donations, subject to the applicable category, limits, reporting and payment-mode conditions. Cash donations above ₹2,000 do not qualify for the deduction.

Corporate Partnership
CSR-1

CSR Implementing-Entity Registration

Form CSR-1 is filed on the MCA portal by eligible entities that intend to undertake Corporate Social Responsibility activities as implementing agencies.

  • Provides a CSR Registration Number for corporate verification and due diligence.

Government Grants
e-Anudaan

Online Grant-in-Aid Portal

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s e-Anudaan portal facilitates online proposal submission and the grant-in-aid processing workflow for eligible schemes and organisations. A valid NGO Darpan ID is required for portal registration.

Process Quality
ISO

Quality Management Certification

A recognised management-system certification, such as ISO 9001, can demonstrate that documented processes are organised around consistency, accountability and continual improvement. ISO develops standards but does not itself issue certificates.

  • Supports regular review, corrective action and continuous organisational improvement.

Institutional Profile
NITI Aayog

NGO Darpan Unique ID

NGO Darpan provides an NPO/NGO with a unique Darpan ID and a central profile used by government ministries and grant portals for identification and verification. It does not issue a physical Darpan certificate or provide permission to use the NITI Aayog logo.

  • Creates a standardised institutional profile for ministry-level verification.

Banking Due Diligence
BRL

Bank Reference Letter

A Bank Reference Letter is a bank-issued document confirming the organisation’s banking relationship or account particulars in the terms stated by the issuing bank. It is a supporting due-diligence document, not a statutory registration.

  • Helps verify official banking particulars for formal project transactions.
  • Provides an additional confidence document for partner and vendor onboarding.

Verification matters as much as presentation

Certificate numbers, issue dates, validity periods and issuing authorities should always be checked against the latest document before being published or submitted.
